Welcome to MeetIndex's privacy policy. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you visit our platform and use our services.

Beta Status & Roadmap: MeetIndex is currently in closed beta. Some features described elsewhere on the site (such as paid Citizenship via Lemon Squeezy and automated image moderation via Sightengine) are scheduled to activate as we move toward public beta. This policy already covers them so there are no surprises later. Where a feature is not yet active, we say so explicitly.

MeetIndex is an 18+ platform. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If we become aware that someone under 18 has provided us with personal information, we will delete it immediately.

What We Collect

We collect different types of personal data:

• Identity Data: Username, display name, and unique identifier
• Contact Data: Email address
• Profile Data: Bio, interests, preferences, and content you share publicly
• Technical Data: IP address, browser type, device information, and login data
• Usage Data: Information about how you interact with MeetIndex (posts, messages, forum participation)
• Content Data: Photos, messages, forum posts, and other content you create
• Membership & Billing Data: Your subscription status, plan, billing history reference, and a customer/subscription ID issued by our payment provider. We never see or store your payment card details — those are handled directly by Lemon Squeezy.
• Moderation Data: When automated image scanning is enabled (planned for public beta), we may store the result of a content-safety check (e.g. approved, needs review) alongside the relevant upload.

How We Collect Your Data

We collect data through:

• Direct interactions: When you create an account, update your profile, or contact us
• Your activity: When you post, message, or interact with other users
• Technical collection: Automatically collected through cookies and server logs when you use our platform

Our Commitment to Privacy

At MeetIndex, we believe your data is yours. We're building a platform based on sovereignty and ownership, and that extends to how we handle your information.

What We Don't Do

• We don't sell your data to third parties
• We don't use algorithmic tracking for advertising
• We don't share your information without your explicit consent

• We don't track you across other websites

Cookies & Tracking

We use essential cookies for authentication and user preferences (like dark mode). We only ask for cookie consent when you log in—logged-out visitors aren't tracked. You can set your browser to refuse cookies, but some platform features may not function properly.

Data Retention

We retain your personal data only as long as necessary to provide our services and fulfill the purposes outlined in this policy. Because Citizenship is intentionally durable, retention follows your account's state:

• Active & Past Due: all data retained as needed to operate the platform.
• Paused (Dormant): profile and content preserved indefinitely so you can renew with one click. Your profile is hidden from public view, but no data is removed.
• Archived: after 12 months paused with no login activity, we send a final notice email and move the account to cold storage. Login still works to renew.
• Cancelled vs. Deleted: cancelling a subscription preserves your account in a paused state. Deleting your account is permanent: when you ask us to delete your data, we honor it within 30 days, except where law requires us to retain limited records for compliance (e.g. tax/billing records held by our payment provider).

Data Security & Processing

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your personal data from unauthorized access, alteration, or disclosure. All sensitive data is encrypted in transit and at rest. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

MeetIndex uses a small set of trusted processors to operate the platform. Each is contractually obligated to protect your information to the same standards we maintain:

• Supabase — our database and authentication provider. Stores your account, profile, content, and membership records on PostgreSQL infrastructure.
• Vercel — our hosting provider. Serves the application and handles request logging.
• Vercel Blob — stores your uploaded photos (avatar, banner, gallery, status, forum). Files you delete are removed from storage; orphaned uploads are cleaned up on a regular schedule.
• Lemon Squeezy — our Merchant of Record for paid Citizenship. They process payments, handle regional taxes (EU VAT, UK VAT, US sales tax, and others), and store your billing details under their own privacy policy. MeetIndex receives only a customer reference, subscription status, and renewal dates.
• Sightengine (planned, public beta) — an automated image-moderation provider we intend to enable before opening public signups. When active, uploaded images will be sent for an automated content-safety check; results are stored against the upload, but the image itself is not retained by Sightengine beyond the scan.

We do not share your data with any party not listed above without your explicit consent or a clear legal obligation.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We'll notify you of significant changes via email or by posting a notice on the platform. Your continued use of MeetIndex after changes become effective constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
