How do you make decisions when the data contradicts your gut?

We got contradicting signals: data said one thing, my gut said another. I chose data and it was right. Then I chose data again and it was wrong. Now I know that data is useful but it's not destiny. The question is: which data are you measuring? Measure the wrong thing and data will confidently lead you off a cliff. How do you actually integrate data and intuition?
